Program Description: The MARC (Maximizing Access to Research Careers) Program an undergraduate, NIH-funded honors research training FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM for underrepresented minority, economically disadvantaged, or mental/ or physically impaired students interested in pursuing a PhD or MD/PhD in Biomedical or Behavioral Science related fields post UCR graduation.


Who is the program for: This 2-3 year program is for current freshmen, sophomores and juniors (at the time of application). Note: If you are currently a junior and plan to take a 5th year [expected to graduate in 2026-2027], you are eligible to apply.

Program Start Dates: June 24th, 2024

Note: If you are committed to an outside summer research program Summer 2024, you can begin the program Fall 2024. However, you still must apply by the given deadline.


Program Length: 2-3 years depending on applicant level (programming begins annually the end of June).


Stipend Amount: Monthly stipend @ approximately $1150

Program Description: The MARC Summer Pre-Trainee [10 week] Program (for current Freshmen) is a paid, university funded, summer research opportunity for underrepresented minority, economically/financially disadvantaged, or physical/mental impaired students interested in obtaining a PhD or MD/PhD in bio or behavioral related science fields. Students must be a registered student at UCR.

Who is this program for: This 10-week summer program is for current Freshmen.

Program Dates: June 24th - August 25th, 2024
Stipend: $2500

Note: Participation in the Summer Pre-Trainee program is NOT a pre-requisite to the 2- Year Trainee Program.
